 Shoot2Score is a not for profit community organization. Through the generous support of foundations, corporations, and individual donors, financial contributions received will help cover expenses for college tours, community service initatives.

 

Shoot2Score Hoops is a non-profit 501C(3) and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Shoot2Score Hoops (S2S) is 501C3 non-profit organization that mentors and helps youth in the Greater Houston area achieve post-secondary academic and developmental success through character building initiatives, academics, athletics and community service. S2S implements 4 major initiatives to help students grow successfully: 
a) Extra-curricular activities that foster personal and academic growth; 
b) Community leadership programs that engage both parent and students; 
c) Early college assessment programs that foster a college-bound environment; and,
d) Leadership programs for Shoot2Score personnel and students.


Shoot 2 Score was founded in 2008 by Aldine Eisenhower High School and Texas Christian University (TCU) graduate Marcus Sloan.


On December 22, 2009 Shoot 2 Score Hoops will host its 2009 Christmas Toy Drive and Charity Event at Manor on Washington.The event is sponsored by The NAPLE,Professional SocialitesEvents and Lagniappe, PR,  Houston Media Source and 71 Proof. The charity event, scheduled from 8-10pm, will be hosted by two of Houston’s hottest radio personalities – KRBE 104.1’s Ayana Mack and DJ Tony Styles. Guests will enjoy Christmas-themed signature cocktails, hors d’ouevres and gourmet desserts. Admission for this event is $20, with proceeds benefitting S2S, and guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy. The toys will benefit disadvantaged children throughout the Greater Houston area, and will be personally distributed by S2S personnel on Christmas morning. ABOUT SHOOT2SCORE HOOPS

 Shoot2Score Hoops was founded in 2008 by Aldine Eisenhower and TCU graduate Marcus Sloan, a successful athlete looking to give back to the Houston community that embraced him and his dreams of becoming a professional basketball player. In previous interviews Mr. Sloan has stated, “Growing up, I realized that many of my peers didn’t have the opportunities to get exposure to college life, or to see the world outside of our neighborhood. My goal in starting Shoot2Score is to show young people what life has shown me by way of competitive athletics – that there is more to life than what we are immediately exposed to.”  Mr. Sloan currently plays professional basketball in Europe. S2S personnel is comprised of community volunteers, business professionals and professional athletes, all looking to give back and contribute to the youth of our community.

Press Release The Tipping Point & Shoot2Score "KickBack" to the Community

The House of Blues, Overachievers Clothing & Houston Dynamo among organizations participating in charity fundraiser August 9

 

Houston, Texas, July 15, 2009: Aldine Eisenhower product and TCU graduate Marcus Sloan started Shoot2Score ( www.shoot2scorehoops.com ) in 2008 looking to give back to a community that embraced him and his dreams of becoming a professional basketball player. On August 9, Shoot2Score will officially begin kicking back to the community with its First Annual Shoot2Score Charity Fundraiser Presented by The Tipping Point (1212 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002). Admission is free, and a $20 per ticket raffle with prizes from the Houston Rockets, Houston Dynamo, The House of Blues, Overachievers Clothing, and many more will take place at approximately 9:30 PM. Shoot2Score's sole purpose is to help the youth of our great city receive the necessary support that will enable them to achieve at the post-secondary academic level by way of character building initiatives, academics, athletics and community service. Shoot2Scorehas several initiatives planned throughout the course of the year, including college tours, parent and student leadership workshop, financial aid workshops, and SAT/ACT preparation. Shoot2Score has also partnered with Overachievers Clothing (www.iamoverachiever.com ) for future community service endeavors, a partnership rooted in a firm belief that true success is rooted in education and humanitarian achievement, as well as The Tipping Pointwww.thetippingpointstore.com ) , a sneaker lifestyle store devoted to helping non-profit and small business promote ever-evolving ideas and concepts.

"Many of my friends turned to violence or drugs as way of life, not knowing - or, sadly, not caring - there were other options. My goal in starting Shoot2Score is to show young people what life has shown me by way of competitive athletics - that there is more to life than what we are immediately exposed to."

 

About Shoot2Score

Shoot2Score was founded by Marcus Sloan, a graduate of Eisenhower High School and Texas Christian University. Sloan currently plays professional basketball in Europe, and in starting Shoot2Score, looks to help young people empower themselves with the necessary tools to make their dreams and goals attainable by way of college preparedness, academics, community service, and character building.
